Honeycomb Gold PLA Filament (1.75mm, 1kg)
3DQF PLA is made in Greater Manchester right here in the UK, with tight tolerances, the highest quality material and a fully recyclable custom cardboard spool. We're big fans of 3DQF filament and it's great to support a fellow small UK business in the maker scene.
They have been working on a new lighter gold for some time now and we think this Honeycomb Gold hits the mark, brighter than the more weathered-looking 3DQF Treasure Gold with a lovely shimmer in the sun - it really offers something significantly different!
The custom laser-cut cardboard is fully recyclable and includes a filament indicator to help you keep an eye on your remaining PLA.
3DQF PLA holds a tight tolerance of 0.03mm - and that's over a 21-kilometre run (a human hair is .04!)! This 3D Printing filament enjoys higher temperatures than others on the market (210-225°C), so we suggest starting at 210°C and adjusting to suit your printer/results.
We stock lots of different colours of PLA from 3DQF, and also offer 3DQF PETG!
Printable Spool Adaptors
As the spool is cardboard, you may want to print an adapter for your setup (please note that future batches of this filament may include a printed spool inner already within the reel):
- Bambu Labs AMS users - Print this spool adaptor for the best performance (we also found that squishing a big ball of blu-tack inside the adapter can help keep the AMS happy as the extra weight helps to keep the spool in place)
- Bambu AMS Lite users - Print these low-friction spool rings
- Using a roller-type spool holder? Print one of these spool edge protectors (Not AMS-friendly, use the AMS version above)
- Using a traditional spool holder? Print these low-friction inserts for smooth, stable unloading
Printing Parameters
- Hot end Temperature: 210-225°C (with our X1C we find 230°C works best, but it's a fast machine so tweak for your scenario)
- Bed Temperature: 30-50°C (with our X1C we find 60°C on a textured PEI plate works best)
- First Layer Speed: 30 mmps
- Print Speed: 50-80mmps
- Retraction: 2-4mm
- Fan: Off for the first layer, then 100% (we keep ours off for 3 layers)
- Filament cleaner: Recommended
- Like all PLA, keep it dry and away from humidity as much as possible
- ...and always check your levels...then check em' again!
