M5Stack Thread Border Router
The M5Stack CoreS3 Thread BR is a Thread Border Router kit combining the ESP32-S3-based CoreS3 (16MB Flash, 8MB PSRAM, Wi-Fi, 2.0" touch LCD, camera, mic, speaker, RTC and IMU) with an ESP32-H2 IEEE 802.15.4 RCP module for OpenThread networking.
The M5Stack CoreS3 Thread BR is a Thread Border Router kit built around the CoreS3 controller and the Module Gateway H2 wireless module. In this setup, the CoreS3 works as the control core of the edge gateway, running user applications alongside the OpenThread protocol stack.
The CoreS3 controller is based on the ESP32-S3 SoC and includes 16MB Flash plus 8MB PSRAM. It supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and comes packed with useful onboard hardware, including a 2.0" touch LCD display, camera, microphone, speaker, RTC, and a six-axis motion sensor, along with other rich peripherals.
The Module Gateway H2 is built around the ESP32-H2-MINI-1 module and supports IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication. Acting as an OpenThread Radio Co-Processor (RCP), it provides thread packet forwarding capabilities for the CoreS3 main controller.
CoreS3 Thread BR is well suited for smart home systems, environmental monitoring, sensor networks, and low-power wireless communication nodes, making it a strong choice for fast prototyping and product development.
